What is it?
Whelks are saltwater molluscs with grey or brownish shells and resemble pointy snails. We mostly have ready cook whelks but occasionally we get live ones.
Preparation Options
Cooked whelks are ready to eat. To cook live whelks you will need to boil them for no longer than 10 minutes.
Is it sustainable?
There are plenty of whelks in the sea, they're easy to harvest, and they taste good. Whelks are a great sustainable option.
