What is it?
Salmon is an oily fish rich in omega 3. It's a good source of vitamin D, phosphorous and calcium. We sell farmed salmon from Shetland, Organic salmon from Ireland, and when it's in season (June/July) wild salmon. The organic salmon tends to be leaner than the regular farmed as they have a healthier diet and more space to move. The wild is leaner again.
Preparation Options
The farmed salmon is usually in fillets which have been pin boned. You can have the organic salmon in fillets or cutlets. The cutlets have a large bone in the centre and the fillets will contain pin bones unless it is from the tail end.
Is it sustainable?
There are environmental concerns when it comes to farmed salmon. Organic farmed salmon is a better choice for sustainability as it has less impact on the environment.
