What is it?
Hake is quite a mild fish, with a white flaky texture and a flavour that is more subtle than that of cod. It can be eaten on its own and makes fantastic fish and chips.
Preparation Options
You can get hake in cutlets or fillets. The cutlets will have a large bone in the middle, the fillets will usually be bone free. You can also get a large joint for roasting.
Is it sustainable?
Our hake is always cornish and comes from either Looe or Newlyn. The MCS doesn't have any information about the sustainability of this but stocks are at an all time high.
