What is it?
This isn't a fish we have very often on the stall, you usually see them when the weather is a bit warmer. They are an oily fish and are just like a long mackerel but with green bones.
Preparation Options
You can cook these whole but they will need to be gutted, or you can have them filleted. You get two long fillets off each fish that will still contain small pin bones.
Is it sustainable?
Our garfish come from Looe and are line caught with, the MCS doesn't have any information about the sustainability of this but it is probably safe to assume that it is very sustainable.
