What is it?
Crab claws yield sweet, dense white meat similar to lobster meat from the body and claws, while the flesh from under the hard upper shell is soft, rich and brown.
Preparation Options
We sell dressed crabs with all the meat taken out and but back in the shell. Single claws you can bash with a rolling pin and get the meat out. Packs of meat with the white and brown meat separated. Whole crabs that need to be cracked open and the gills taken out. We can also get live crabs if you want to cook them yourself.
Is it sustainable?
Our dressed crabs and crab meat comes from Plymouth, and our whole crab and claws come from the isle of wight. All are caught in pots which is a very sustainable method of fishing.
